Powerboards are intended for small load items – think computers, dvd players etc. If you are using an appliance that is going to draw a lot of power, using a powerboard does pose a significant electrical risk – as the powerboard is at great risk of overload.
Quality powerboards these days can be quite pricey – for just a few more dollars, it might be worthwhile investing in more powerpoints around your home. It will be a safer and far more aesthetic option!
